Not only will the information being presented be about LODDs, but how to best approach, plan and respond to the non-LODD deaths or serious injury of emergency responders, but also their surviving family, the surviving department, grief support and handling the multitude of logistical challenges of these tragic events.
There will be an extra effort to get all emergency agencies to attend including: Fire, EMS, Police leadership, CISM Teams, Fire/EMS/Police clergy, Fire Police, Fire/EMS Safety Officers, Funeral Directors and others. This class continues to fill out completely so early registration is recommended.
Chief of the department, Andrew Chanler, added this comment about this special edition of the program:
"By hosting this program on such an important and honorable day it is our hopes that the agencies that can attend will benefit from our past experiences, share resources as well empower other departments to begin preparing for what will be the most difficult event in their history"
